Wushu athlete Divyanshi Choudhary, 19, has accepted the decision by the Wushu Association of India (WAI) to drop her from the national squad for the Asian Games in Hangzhou. The development follows the dismissal of her petition challenging the exclusion by the Delhi High Court on October 10. Choudhary, hailing from Rajasthan, simultaneously made allegations of mental harassment against senior Wushu athlete Roshibina Devi.

Choudhary's exclusion meant she would not be part of the ten-member Indian Wushu team designated for the continental multi-sport event. Her legal challenge sought to overturn this decision, but the Delhi High Court's ruling solidified the WAI's selection. Following the court's verdict, Choudhary publicly stated her acceptance of the federation's decision and indicated her intention to focus on future endeavors.

The athlete detailed allegations of "constant mental abuse" from Roshibina Devi, which she claims began in February during a National Camp held at the Sports Authority of India (SAI) NSNIS Patiala. Choudhary described a specific incident where Roshibina Devi allegedly instructed her to perform additional exercises, purportedly to "tire" her, just before a critical selection trial. Choudhary contends this impacted her performance during the trial.

Despite these serious allegations, both the Wushu Association of India and the Sports Authority of India confirmed that no formal written complaint regarding the alleged harassment was filed by Divyanshi Choudhary. An official from the SAI stated that without a formal complaint, no official action could be initiated regarding the matter.

The Wushu Association of India has maintained that the selection of the national squad was based on rigorous and objective criteria. These criteria reportedly included:

  • Performance during the national camp
  • Results from selection trials
  • Prior international and national competition records

The WAI further stated that the selection panel was established under the guidance of the Ministry of Youth Affairs and Sports. Divyanshi Choudhary's current stance is to move past the incident, focusing on her upcoming training and competitions. No further legal action or formal complaint regarding the alleged harassment has been indicated following her statement.
